    Department of Library and Information Centre

    Progress in all spheres of life depends on information generated in the concerned fields. Availability of efficient information systems, services and proper utilization of information by Government and the people can improve the life and activities of the citizen.

    To promote and disseminate information on the rehabilitation in India and abroad is one of the major objectives of the Institute. The Institute carries out several activities on information handling and dissemination under library, information and documentation centre. We need information continuously for progress, for sound decision making and even for survival, information is vital for the growth and success for any ventures: be it teaching, education, industry, any organization, research and development, any institute etc.

    Central/ Medical/ Technical Library :

    The Institute’s central/ Medical/ Technical Library has a collection of 7,912 latest books and several reports, reprints etc. The Library is kept open for twelve hours (8.30am to 9.00pm) excluding 30 minutes Lunch break, and caters to the information needs of staff and students of the Institute, Govt. functionaries, rehabilitation professionals of other centers, NGOs, Persons With Disabilities and their relatives.

    Departmental Library :

    Besides the Central/ Medical/ Technical Library, each Department has its own Departmental Library equipped with recent referral books for use of the Faculties and PG students.

    Hindi Library :

    The Official Language section of the Institute has a Hindi Library and equipped with a collection of 231 books for the use of Staff, PWDs and their caregivers.

    Literature search and information services using commercial database such as

    1. CINAHL CD,
    2. EMBASE CD-ORTHOPAEDIC SURGERY
    3. REHABILITATION AND PHYSICAL MEDICINE covering ten years backup literature and locally created databases was provided.

    Annual Report of the Institute is compiled and prepared every year.

    The use of computers for various information handling and documentation activities was continued. Coverage of the databases on books, reprints, rehabilitation aids and appliances etc. in LIC was expanded.

    The Institute continued to provide information under Right to Information (RTI) Act -2005. RTI details are placed on Institute’s website. The following officers are nominated as:
